Design Professional in Seattle, Washington at Cushing Terrell

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Design Professional with 2 to 5 years of architectural experience to join our integrated architecture and engineering team in Seattle, Washington. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on retail projects for nationally recognized brands across the country. The role is built for emerging architectural professionals who are ready to move beyond redline production (marking up and revising drawings) and take an active role in shaping both design vision and technical execution.

What does this role involve day to day? Working alongside architects and engineers on fast-paced retail projects, you will help develop design concepts, translate ideas into buildable solutions, and produce drawings, 3D renderings, and technical details in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp. What will you create? Design and construction documentation for retail environments, with hands-on experience across all phases of a project. We are looking for someone who brings creativity, curiosity, and a drive to push ideas further.

At Cushing Terrell, you will collaborate across disciplines and offices, take on meaningful responsibility early, and continue building both your design voice and technical expertise.

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 annually.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field (NAAB Accredited Preferred)
• 2+ years of experience in construction document preparation, architectural design, or technical development
• Working knowledge of construction materials, standards, and building codes
• Basic knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp as design tools, plus Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
• Accurate execution of project documentation and design intent, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• A collaborative team approach grounded in integrity, trust, and commitment

• Previous experience with retail projects

• Develop design and construction documentation, including plans, elevations, sections, and details, for retail projects of varying scope and complexity, with guidance from senior project team members
• Produce drawings, 3D renderings, and technical details using Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other applications
• Research technical detailing of building systems and building code requirements using appropriate references
• Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and within budget, keeping documents accurate, complete, and consistent with firm standards and design intent
• Coordinate project design with team members, consultants, contractors, and clients
• Contribute to site development, plan layout, materials selection, and construction cost estimates
• Support Project Architect work, including consultant coordination and client communication
• Participate in site surveys and travel domestically as needed to visit project sites

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate's years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
