Production Supervisor / Manager in Arlington, Texas at J.M. Fabrication Company, LLC
Job Description
About JM Fabrication
JM Fabrication (Arlington, TX) has built precision hardware since 1979. We are an AS9100 and ISO 9001 certified, ITAR-registered contract manufacturer that follows NIST and CMMC cybersecurity requirements. We serve aerospace and defense, military, electronics, medical, and oil and gas customers. A job at JM can include sheet metal fabrication (forming and CNC punching), CNC machining (milling and turning), aerospace welding, wet paint and powder coat finishing, part marking and silk screen, deburring, and mechanical and electromechanical assembly, all under one roof.
The Role
We need a Production Manager who sweats the details. You will own the shop floor from release to ship across every process we run. You will keep each job moving, each quantity accurate, and each promise date met. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how parts are made and can keep a multi-process, high-mix aerospace shop running.
Schedule: 9/80, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with every other Friday off.
What You Will Do
- Own the master production schedule across fabrication, machining, welding, paint/finishing and assembly. Sequence work to meet customer promise dates and contract dates.
- Review every open job daily: where it is, why it is stuck, and what it takes to release it. Drive each constraint to closure with engineering, quality, purchasing and outside processors.
- Build and maintain production reports from ProShop ERP: open-job status, WIP, on-time delivery, late-to-contract orders, recovery schedules and capacity loading. Present them to the General Manager and executive leadership.
- Keep ProShop work orders, routings, quantities (including partial shipments) and job status accurate in real time.
- Lead shop leads and operators. Set daily priorities, balance labor and machine capacity, and hold the floor to standard work.
- Coordinate material and outside processing (plating, anodize, chem film and other special processes) so no job waits on material or a vendor.
- Lead customer-driven recovery plans and on-time delivery improvement for major aerospace and defense primes.
- Support AS9100 and customer audits, AS9102 first article inspections, and corrective actions. Make sure drawing, specification and customer PO quality flow-down requirements are met on the floor.
- Enforce ITAR and controlled-information handling on the shop floor.
- Drive continuous improvement in throughput, setup time, scrap and rework.
What You Bring
- 5+ years managing or supervising production in a complex, multi-process manufacturing environment. Experience across fabrication, machining, welding, paint/finishing and assembly is strongly preferred.
- Aerospace and defense experience in an AS9100 environment.
- Strong technical knowledge: reads engineering drawings and GD&T, and understands routings, setups, sheet metal, welding and finishing specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Hands-on ERP/MRP scheduling experience. ProShop experience is a strong plus. Advanced Excel skills for reports and schedules.
- Very detail-oriented: you track every job, every quantity and every date, and you close the loop.
- Proven ability to lead people, run a schedule, and deliver on time under pressure.
- Clear written and verbal communication with leadership, customers and the shop floor.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.62).
