BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Performs a variety of duties related to finance in a medical care facility. The Accounting Manager works alongside, and serves as a backup for, the Controller to assure the accuracy of financial data to assist in the monthly closing of financials systems and completes a variety of reconciliations. Uses analytical skills to assist team in various reporting needs and with special projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: YES

Number of Direct Reports: 3

Minimum Education: Master’s degree

Degree: Accounting

License/Certification Required: No

Minimum Work Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, including overseeing or leading assigned staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Comprehensive understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial close processes

  • Knowledge of internal controls, risk management, and audit practices

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis tools

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness

  • • Supervise, mentor, and develop assigned accounting staff to enhance performance and accountability

  • • Review and ensure timely completion of account reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation

  • • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow

  • • Contribute to the development and monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective internal control systems

  • • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit requests and deliverables

  • • Ensure compliance with GAAP and adherence to organizational policies and procedures

  • • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting operations

  • • Maintain and enforce standardized procedures, ensuring adequate documentation and cross-training for continuity

  • • Act as the primary Financial Services liaison in the absence of the Controller

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
