This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Database Administrator in the United States.

Join a fast-paced technology environment where data is at the core of critical business operations and customer experiences. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, scalability, and reliability of large-scale database systems supporting high-volume transactional and analytical workloads. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud and on-premises database technologies while collaborating closely with engineering and leadership teams. You will contribute to mission-critical infrastructure, optimize complex database environments, and help shape data management strategies. Ideal for a highly technical professional, this role combines operational ownership, performance engineering, and strategic database administration in a fully remote setting.

Accountabilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize multi-terabyte database environments across SQL Server platforms, including on-premises infrastructure, Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure SQL services.
  • Design, implement, automate, and regularly validate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure business continuity and compliance with established recovery objectives.
  • Monitor database health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks, query inefficiencies, indexing challenges, and system constraints within high-volume production environments.
  • Develop and maintain robust security controls, including access management, encryption, auditing, and data privacy measures to protect sensitive information and support regulatory requirements.
  • Build, manage, and enhance SSIS packages and data integration workflows that support business-critical ETL and data movement processes.
  • Support high-availability architectures, including failover and replication technologies, while partnering with development teams on database design, deployment strategies, and query optimization initiatives.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource within the database team, contributing expertise, operational leadership, and best practices for database administration and performance management.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on database administration experience managing large-scale production SQL Server environments, including multi-terabyte databases.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, query optimization, and troubleshooting complex database issues.
  • Proven experience working with Azure SQL services and broader Azure data technologies, with the ability to manage both cloud-based and on-premises database infrastructures.
  • Advanced knowledge of backup and recovery methodologies, high availability solutions, disaster recovery planning, and database security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining SSIS packages and ETL workflows for enterprise data integration needs.
  • Strong T-SQL development and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Microsoft data platform certifications, such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, are considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and manage critical systems with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working remotely and maintaining reliable internet connectivity and a dedicated home office workspace.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on location, skills, and experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Company-paid life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment coverage.
  • Optional life and disability insurance plans for employees and eligible family members.
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA), dependent care accounts, transit benefits, and health savings account (HSA) options.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with generous employer matching and immediate vesting.
  • 20 days of paid time off annually (prorated based on start date).
  • Company-paid holidays plus two flexible personal holidays.
  • Fully remote work arrangement within approved U.S. states.
  • Opportunities to work with modern cloud technologies and large-scale enterprise database environments.
