We are currently seeking a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Food Pantry / Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate volunteers and management the daily operations of our Food and Pet Pantry. This position plays an essential role in ensuring individuals and families have access to nutritious food and other necessities while providing exceptional customer service to pantry participants, volunteers, and community partners.
Schedule
Part-Time Position – 30 Hours Per Week
Required Workdays:
- Monday
- Thursday
- Friday
- One additional weekday (to be determined)
Additional hours may be required during holidays or seasonal periods with increased food deliveries and pantry activity.

Position Summary
The Food Pantry / Volunteer Coordinator for coordinating volunteers and management of the daily operations of our Food and Pet Pantry. This position ensures the pantry operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with food handling regulations while providing exceptional customer service to pantry participants and collaborating with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, capable of handling food deliveries, and committed to serving individuals and families with dignity and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pantry operations during scheduled pantry hours.
- Provide friendly and respectful customer service to pantry participants, volunteers, and community partners.
- Adhere to food pantry regulations and ensure safe food handling procedures are followed.
- Monitor and document refrigerator and freezer temperatures according to established procedures.
- Answer pantry inquiries in person, by telephone, and through email.
- Receive food deliveries and complete food pick-ups when volunteers are unavailable, including pickups from community partners.
- Unload, sort, stock, and organize food and pantry donations in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate pantry records and enter required data into the pantry database daily.
- Assist with inventory management to ensure products are properly rotated and stored.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pantry environment.
- Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, donors, and partner organizations.
- Support special food distributions, holiday programs, and seasonal events as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Experience working in a food pantry, warehouse, nonprofit, customer service, or human services setting.
- Experience with inventory management systems or database entry.
- Experience working with volunteers and community organizations.
