Licensed Practical Nurse in Dayton, Ohio at Akicita Federal, LLC

Akicita Federal is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to deliver direct patient care in support of the VA Primary Care team at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, OH. In this role, you will work alongside an interdisciplinary PACT team to provide coordinated, veteran-centered primary care in a fast-paced clinical environment. - Obtain and document patient histories, perform clinical assessments, and contribute to individualized care plans within the electronic medical record.

- Administer prescribed medications, verify medication orders across shifts, and document patient responses accurately.

- Monitor and document fluid intake and output each shift; perform routine skin assessments and execute measures to prevent pressure ulcers.

- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the charge nurse or supervising physician and assist in revising care plans as needed.

- Operate clinical equipment including EKG machines, cardiac monitors, and defibrillators; deliver central line and ventilator care in accordance with facility policies.

- Educate patients and families on medications, therapies, and diagnostic procedures, and document their demonstrated understanding.

- Recognize and respond to acute changes in patient status, initiate appropriate emergency interventions, and participate in multidisciplinary discharge planning.

- Graduation from an LPN/LVN program accredited by ACEN or CCNE and approved by the applicable state accrediting agency.

- Current, valid LPN license in the State of Ohio.

- Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience within the last 3 years.

- Background in at least one of the following settings: Intensive Care, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Cardiac Monitoring, or Emergency Room.

- Current CPR certification from an American Heart Association-approved vendor and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.

What sets candidates apart:

- Prior experience working within the VA healthcare system or serving a veteran patient population.

- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, particularly for candidates interested in specialized clinic assignments.

- Familiarity with VA electronic medical record systems (e.g., CPRS or Oracle Health).

- Experience participating in multidisciplinary team huddles, care coordination, or patient discharge planning.

- Demonstrated comfort with central line care, ventilator management, or specialized prosthesis care.
