AWS Cloud Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design, implement, and manage secure cloud environments supporting critical technology initiatives.
You will work on scalable AWS and Azure infrastructure, automation, and DevOps solutions while collaborating with development teams.
The position focuses on building reliable, high-performing cloud architectures with strong security and operational standards.
You will contribute to infrastructure modernization through automation, containerization, and continuous delivery practices.

Accountabilities:

The AWS Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure while supporting DevOps initiatives and ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient operations. The role requires collaboration across technical teams to transform application requirements into scalable cloud solutions.

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available, scalable, and disaster-resilient cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Configure and maintain cloud services including compute, storage, databases, networking, and Kubernetes-based solutions.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.
  • Implement cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, network segmentation, and compliance controls.
  • Monitor cloud environments, troubleshoot performance and availability issues, and implement operational improvements.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline integration using tools such as GitHub Actions to enable efficient and reliable application deployments.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes orchestration platforms.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to design cloud-native solutions aligned with application requirements.
  • Develop automation scripts and operational tools using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support evolving infrastructure and DevOps objectives.
  • Participate in team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technical problem-solving activities.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced cloud engineer with strong expertise in AWS infrastructure, automation, security, and DevOps practices. They should have the ability to manage complex cloud environments while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure management, or related technical roles.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure core services, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and security.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools, including GitHub Actions.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles, networking concepts, subnetting, routing, load balancing, VPNs, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure, deployment, and performance issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering and development teams.
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe software development environments is preferred.
  • Previous government or federal project experience is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain required government security clearance.
  • Relevant cloud certifications are preferred, including:
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
    • AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty.
    • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert.
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate.
