Job Description

Head of Product Design

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Product Design based in United States.

We are seeking a visionary product design leader to shape the future of user experiences in an AI-driven environment.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on design execution, requiring someone who can raise the craft bar while building a high-performing team.
You will guide designers in creating innovative product experiences where AI agents collaborate with users to solve complex problems.
The position offers the opportunity to define emerging interaction patterns and influence how intelligent products are designed and delivered.
Working closely with product, engineering, and business teams, you will drive impactful decisions from early discovery through launch.
This is an opportunity for a player-coach leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys building teams, products, and design cultures from the ground up.

Accountabilities:

The Head of Product Design will lead the product design function while remaining deeply involved in the craft, ensuring the team delivers exceptional experiences and establishes new standards for AI-powered product design. The role requires strong ownership, strategic thinking, and the ability to balance team development with hands-on contribution.

  • Define and establish best practices for an AI-native product design organization, shaping how teams collaborate with AI throughout the design process.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers by hiring strong talent, developing capabilities, and creating a culture of excellence.
  • Set design priorities across multiple product areas, making resource decisions and ensuring teams focus on the highest-impact opportunities.
  • Personally contribute to design work through prototypes, workflows, critiques, and product decisions rather than operating only as a manager.
  • Develop innovative interaction patterns for products where AI agents perform meaningful work on behalf of users.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer teams to integrate design into strategic decisions.
  • Champion design quality internally and externally through thought leadership, industry engagement, and communication of design principles.
  • Use AI tools as an active part of the design workflow to accelerate prototyping, exploration, feedback, and production.
  • Establish scalable processes that improve collaboration, speed, and consistency across the product organization.
  • Ensure the design team continuously raises its standards through feedback, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced product design leader who combines strong design judgment, people leadership, and practical AI fluency. You should have a track record of building successful design teams, shipping high-quality B2B products, and using emerging technologies to improve the way teams work.

  • 7+ years of experience as a product designer, including at least 3 years managing product design teams.
  • Proven experience building or significantly growing a product design organization within a B2B SaaS or technology environment.
  • Strong hands-on product design experience with the ability to personally contribute to prototypes, user flows, and product decisions.
  • Experience designing products where AI, automation, or intelligent systems support user workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing design talent.
  • Strong understanding of visual design, interaction design, systems thinking, and product strategy.
  • Experience prioritizing design resources, managing competing demands, and making clear trade-offs.
  • Practical experience using AI tools in design workflows, including prototyping, critique, research, or production acceleration.
  • Ability to explain complex design concepts clearly and influence stakeholders across technical and business teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with high ownership and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, strategic mindset, and ability to inspire teams around a shared vision.
  • Experience with AI-powered design practices, agentic workflows, or emerging product interaction models is highly preferred.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work environment with flexibility across locations.
  • Opportunity to lead and shape a growing product design organization.
  • Ability to influence the future of AI-powered product experiences.
  • Work alongside talented professionals across product, engineering, and business functions.
  • High-impact role within a mission-driven technology environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, experimentation, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborative culture focused on ownership, craftsmanship, and innovation.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge AI technologies and evolving design practices.
