Description:

Working within the Office of Student Development at Central College in Pella, Iowa, the Campus Activities Coordinator works to support and enhance the student co-curricular experience at Central. This position will advance student development at Central by creating and implementing campus programs, through supervision of the Campus Activities Board and Intramurals, by supporting student clubs and organizations, and assisting with the planning and delivery of other student development initiatives.

Supervision, Advising and Training

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training and supervising students who are on the Student Involvement team, specifically Campus Activities Board members.
  • Oversee the college intramural sports program, including scheduling, student staff supervision, participant engagement, and program evaluation.
  • Serve as a resource to existing and new student organizations in marketing, event planning, collaboration, and leadership development.

Programming

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of campus-wide programs, traditions, and special events sponsored by Student Involvement.
  • Plan, coordinate, promote, and evaluate social, educational, and wellness-focused co-curricular programs that enhance student engagement and contribute to a vibrant campus community.
  • Provide operational and logistical support for student programming, including basic event technology setup and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with campus departments in the development and implementation of late-night programming, intramurals, and other initiatives.
  • Assist with implementing Registration/Orientation programs and Welcome Weekends.
  • Manage the Central College mascot program including recruiting, training and scheduling of appearance and events.

Administrative

  • Inventory materials and supplies, make purchases, and monitor expenditures.
  • Understand and support campus-wide policies and procedures as they relate to Student Development.
  • Support departmental operations through budget tracking, purchasing, and other administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Administer equipment checkout and return procedures, ensuring accurate inventory tracking and timely maintenance of resources, as well as how-to directions and usage agreements.
  • Assist student organizations with access to programming resources, supplies, and office services.
  • Participate in divisional committees, departmental initiatives, and evening or weekend programs as needed to support student engagement efforts.
  • Promote and uphold campus advertising policy, promotions, and signage, including print and electronic advertising and notifications.
  • This position regularly requires evening and weekend hours.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required with a minimum one-year professional experience
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and solid interpersonal skills are important. Ability to speak in front of groups as well as work effectively in small group settings and group facilitation skills
  • Exhibit and exemplify the Central Welcome statement.
  • Demonstrated involvement as an undergraduate student.
  • Available to work some evenings and weekends
