Job Description
Overview:
Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Math Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. This position requires a passion for mathematics and the ability to convey complex concepts in an understandable and engaging manner to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematical principles and a commitment to helping students achieve both academic success and a deeper appreciation for math.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive math curriculum that aligns with state standards and fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Utilize various teaching methods and technological tools to enhance student learning and engagement in mathematics
Student Assessment:
- Conduct regular assessments to evaluate student progress and understanding of mathematical concepts
- Provide personalized feedback and support to students, adapting instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
Classroom Management:
- Create a positive, organized, and productive learning environment that is conducive to learning and suitable for performing mathematical tasks
- Maintain discipline and encourage good practice with respect to punctuality, behavior, standards of work, and homework
Professional Development:
- Stay current with the latest educational research and pedagogical strategies in mathematics education
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance teaching skills and maintain subject matter expertise
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other teachers, school administrators, and the math department to discuss student progress and curriculum effectiveness
- Engage with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their children’s progress and ways they can support their learning at home
Extracurricular Involvement:
- Sponsor or participate in math-related extracurricular activities, such as math clubs or competitions
- Encourage and support students in applying their mathematical knowledge in practical and real-world scenarios
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education with a concentration in Mathematics, or a related field
- Valid PA teaching certification with an endorsement in Mathematics
- Proven experience as a Math Teacher at the middle school or high school level
- Strong command of mathematical concepts and a passion for teaching mathematics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination
