JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: LEAD MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
DIVISION: SERVICES
DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES
REPORTS TO: FACILITY MANAGER
LOCATION: NYC
SALARY: $22.50
SUMMARY: Ensures completion & participates in the general repair of all facility systems. Must be able to perform and train subordinates in the repair of all plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry fields. Reports to Facility Manager in accomplishing the above requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. Supervises Mechanic and Custodian.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delegates work assignments to mechanics and follows up to ensure their timely completion.
- Preforms work orders as needed, and assists mechanics with complex issues when they arise.
- Escorts outside contractors, around the facility.
- Maintains proper inventory of all tools, supplies and equipment within the department.
- Accepts and verifies any incoming orders upon delivery.
- Fills in as needed as a driver for any emergency transports, supply pick-ups or equipment transports as directed.
- Performs daily inspections of mechanical equipment and public hallways, ensuring that all lighting, fire extinguishers and exit signs are in good working order.
- Meets with Facility Manager daily to discuss current issues and status on previous requests made.
- Directs and participates in the completion of preventative maintenance checks, as per direction from the Facility Manager.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED with English and Math skills required. Technical or trade school a plus. 5 years related work experience required. Must have valid NYS Driver license & clean record.
