About the Position: Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an energetic Facilities Associate to work with our Campus Operations team to maintain the upkeep of our facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a hard-working, meticulous work ethic along with a positive, customer service attitude. A successful candidate will ensure that the facilities are properly functioning at all times and perform general maintenance & up-keep of multiple building sites. This includes some exterior duties as well as interior building duties. This full-time, non-exempt, year-round position reports to the Facilities, Grounds & Events Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
General Cleaning & Sanitization
- Floors & Surfaces: Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, polish, and spot-clean floors, carpets, furniture, woodwork, and hallway glass display cases.
- Restrooms & Amenities: Clean and sanitize restrooms and water fountains/coolers; refill soap, paper towel, and bathroom tissue dispensers throughout the building.
- Deep Cleaning: Wash walls, halls, windows, window sills, and doors; remove writing or graffiti from walls; clear cobwebs.
- Waste Management: Empty and clean all waste receptacles and maintain neat, orderly work and storage areas.
Facilities & Event Support
- Facility Support: Set up and clean up equipment, tables & chairs, and rooms for school activities, athletic programs, and special events.
- Inventory & Supplies: Maintain accurate inventories of custodial equipment, materials, and supplies; submit requests for needed supplies as necessary.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and properly store all custodial equipment and tools.
- Record Keeping & Admin: Complete required paperwork, maintain records as requested by the supervisor, and attend meetings or in-service trainings.
Building Minor Maintenance
- Maintenance & Repair: Report damaged, broken, or loose fixtures and equipment to supervision; assist work crews and perform basic tasks as required.
Communication & Professionalism
- Interacts positively with staff, students, and parents, handling public inquiries with tact and diplomacy.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive school information.
- Responds to routine questions and directives in a clear, professional manner.
- Adjust flexibly to various locations, work assignments, and supervisors' directives.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Experience: 1–2 years of related cleaning or custodial experience preferred.
- Knowledge: Demonstrated basic knowledge of cleaning processes and protocols.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communication: Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly (both orally and in writing) with active listening skills.
- Instruction Comprehension: Ability to read and understand verbal/written instructions, warning labels, and Safety Data Sheets.
- Safety & Chemicals: Training in proper care, measurement, relabeling, and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Interpersonal & Technical: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and teamwork skills with flexibility in daily assignments.
Equipment Operated
- Vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacs, and carpet cleaners
- Floor scrubbers and buffers
- Power washers
- Standard wet/dry mops, brooms, and manual cleaning tool
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Physical Capabilities:
- Frequent standing, walking (occasionally over 2–3 miles per day), reaching, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and repetitive hand motions (sweeping, mopping, waxing).
- Occasional requirement to lift/carry items up to 50 lbs. and push/pull wheeled equipment up to 300 lbs.
- Climbing stairs and working in high places.
- Schedule: Occasional requirement for overtime work.

About Saint Ignatius High School:
Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors September 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college-preparatory school. The school enrolls more than 1,400 young men who hail from 92 cities in an 11-county region. Located in close proximity to downtown Cleveland in the vibrant and energetic Ohio City neighborhood, the school occupies 25 acres and includes 20 buildings and three athletic fields. The school has 114 faculty members, 89 percent of whom hold advanced degrees. Fifty-six percent have spent 10 years or more teaching at Saint Ignatius.
Saint Ignatius is also home to The Welsh Academy, a middle school for boys from local families of modest economic means, founded in 2019. The academy enrolls more than 60 boys in grades 6-8 and occupies Kesicki Hall on campus.
Academically, Saint Ignatius is a regional and state leader in National Merit finalists. To challenge students and prepare them for college, the Saint Ignatius curriculum offers 17 Advanced Placement (AP) and 21 honors subjects.
