Description: Join the Team at Aviation Specialties Unlimited

Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) is looking for a Manufacturing Technician to support the manufacturing and production of our night vision products. We're seeking a hands-on professional who brings strong electronics troubleshooting, assembly, and soldering skills.

In this role, you'll build, test, and troubleshoot products using work instructions, drawings, and specifications. You'll also support quality initiatives, process improvements, and day-to-day production activities while serving as a technical resource within the manufacturing team.

What You'll Do

Electronics Assembly, Soldering & Testing

  • Assemble, inspect, and test electronic and electromechanical products
  • Perform advanced soldering on PCBs, wire harnesses, connectors, and assemblies in accordance with IPC standards
  • Perform wiring, cable harness fabrication, termination, and continuity verification
  • Utilize multimeters, continuity testers, and other diagnostic equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electronic assembly and wiring issues
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings

Manufacturing & Assembly

  • Assemble and fabricate complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies
  • Build products using engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and technical specifications
  • Perform functionality testing, workmanship verification, and in-process quality checks
  • Support prototype, first article, and low-volume production builds
  • Independently prioritize production tasks to support manufacturing schedules

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
  • Verify product conformance to drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards
  • Assist with quality investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Recommend process and quality improvements to increase efficiency and reduce rework
  • Review manufacturing documentation and identify discrepancies

Production Support

  • Support production workflows through work order and traveler creation
  • Maintain accurate production documentation within manufacturing software systems
  • Assist with training and onboarding of manufacturing employees
  • Support implementation of engineering changes and new production processes
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or electronics assembly experience
  • Proven experience with electronics assembly, troubleshooting, and soldering
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and basic electrical schematics
  • Experience using hand tools, precision measuring devices, multimeters, continuity testers, and electrical test equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology
  • IPC solder training certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire
  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
