This role sits at the center of a fast-evolving, AI-driven consumer lending environment, where credit decisions are powered by advanced analytics and large-scale data systems. You will own critical oversight of credit risk performance across a consumer lending portfolio, ensuring that underwriting outcomes remain aligned with risk appetite and business objectives. The role combines deep analytical work with strategic influence, requiring strong judgment in interpreting portfolio signals and emerging risk trends. You will design and maintain robust monitoring frameworks, key risk indicators, and early warning systems that support proactive decision-making. Working cross-functionally with product, analytics, machine learning, and risk leadership teams, you will help shape how credit performance is understood and governed. This is a high-impact position where your insights directly influence lending strategy, portfolio health, and responsible growth.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for building and leading end-to-end credit risk oversight for a consumer lending portfolio, ensuring strong governance and performance visibility across the organization. You will translate complex data into actionable insights, strengthen monitoring systems, and provide independent challenge to underwriting and product decisions.

  • Develop and maintain credit risk monitoring frameworks to evaluate portfolio performance against risk appetite, business plans, and stress scenarios
  • Define and track key risk indicators (KRIs), thresholds, and early warning signals to detect emerging credit risk trends
  • Analyze credit performance across the full lending lifecycle, including acquisition, underwriting, portfolio management, and repayment behavior
  • Provide credible challenge to first-line teams on underwriting models, credit strategy, and product decisions using portfolio data and insights
  • Partner with analytics, machine learning, product, and risk teams to assess performance shifts and recommend corrective actions when needed
  • Design governance processes, reporting routines, and executive dashboards for leadership, committees, and board-level oversight
  • Support stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk appetite calibration to ensure resilience under changing economic conditions
  • Ensure regulatory alignment and promote best practices in credit risk governance and responsible lending oversight
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong consumer credit risk expertise combined with advanced analytical capabilities and the ability to influence senior stakeholders in a fast-moving, data-driven environment. You are comfortable working at the intersection of analytics, strategy, and governance, and can turn complex datasets into clear business recommendations.

  • 7+ years of experience in consumer credit risk management, portfolio analytics, or credit risk oversight roles
  • Strong background in analyzing credit performance across lending lifecycle stages, including underwriting, acquisition, and repayment behavior
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar platforms
  • Proven ability to build or enhance credit risk frameworks, including KRIs, risk appetite metrics, or governance structures
  • Experience presenting quantitative insights and risk recommendations to senior leadership and governance forums
  • Strong understanding of financial services, consumer lending dynamics, and risk management principles
  • Familiarity with stress testing, scenario analysis, and portfolio monitoring techniques
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and executive audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (Master’s preferred)
  • Bonus: experience with machine learning concepts in credit underwriting and knowledge of banking regulatory expectations
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $145,300 – $231,300 USD, plus bonus and equity opportunities
  • Annual equity grants and participation in employee stock purchase programs (where applicable)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents
  • Retirement savings plans with company matching contributions
  • Paid time off, company holidays, sick leave, and paid family/parental leave
  • Health savings account contributions and wellness-related allowances
  • Income protection benefits including disability and life insurance coverage
  • Annual wellness and productivity stipends to support personal and professional growth
  • Flexible, digital-first work model with remote options across the United States
  • Regular in-person team gatherings, offsites, and collaboration sessions to strengthen connection.
