Job Description

Description:

We're looking for a licensed barber and instructor who is ready to share their skills, experience, and passion with the next generation. At Douglas J, you have the opportunity to turn your passion for barbering into something even more meaningful: helping aspiring barbers develop the skills, confidence, and professionalism to build successful careers.

What You'll Do:

  • Demonstrate classic and modern barbering techniques, including fades, clipper work, beard design, straight-razor shaves, and more.
  • Provide hands-on instruction that helps students develop the technical skills and professional habits needed for success in a barbershop.
  • Offer constructive feedback, encouragement, and individualized guidance to help students build confidence and improve their skills.
  • Model professionalism, client service, sanitation, safety, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain a structured, engaging, and supportive atmosphere where students are challenged to grow.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and educational records.
  • Collaborate with fellow Educators to deliver a consistent, high-quality student and client experience.
  • Support the daily needs of the school and help create an environment where students and educators can thrive.
Requirements:
  • An active Tennessee Barber License.
  • At least two years of professional barbering experience working behind the chair.
  • A current Tennessee Barber Instructor License.
  • A passion for barbering, teaching, mentoring, and helping others succeed.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate techniques clearly.
  • A willingness to hold students accountable while providing the support they need to improve.
  • A professional, dependable, and adaptable approach to working in a structured, fast-paced learning environment.
  • Open availability for daytime hours, Monday through Friday.
