Job Description
Position Summary: The lead lunch monitor will provide working direction to the other lunch monitors, oversee lunch and ensure student safety and serve as a backup to the kitchen staff.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
Lunch Monitor Work Direction – 50%
- Serve as the primary point of contact for anyone with questions for the lunch monitor team.
- Provide work direction to the other lunch monitors.
- Oversee students during lunch, address behavioral issues, and ensure student safety.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team and school administrators to solve problems related to the lunchroom.
Ensure Student Safety – 30%
- Serve as a point of contact for any student safety or behavioral concerns in the lunchroom.
- Collaborate with school nurses and school leaders on student concerns.
Kitchen Staff Backup – 20%
- Serve as the primary backup for kitchen staff, filling in when someone is not available to work:
- Serving lunches
- Restocking food and drinks
- Plating lunches

Skills:
- Ability to interact with students of all ages, helping them with lunch, instructing them on procedures, and maintaining a calm and organized lunch experience.
- Ability to learn and use basic point of sale systems
- Ability to work in the kitchen doing basic food prep and cleaning
- Ability to be flexible to fill in as needed in the kitchen, a la carte and lunchroom
- Ability to lead the other lunch monitors, giving direction as needed, ensuring all responsibilities are covered.
Travel: This position requires no travel.
Working Conditions: This job operates in a commercial kitchen and professional office environment and will routinely use standard commercial kitchen appliances and office equipment. The work environment also involves working in a Preschool-12 Private Christian School and Evangelical Church environment and all employees are expected to have a demonstrated and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This position is required to stand for extended periods and lift and carry up to 40 pounds frequently.
Working Hours: Typically, employees are expected to work during normal hours and days of business, between Monday and Friday. Specific expectations for each position will be communicated by the supervisor of this position. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. This position works 20 hours per week and 10 months of the year.
