Operations Automation Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Operations Automation Specialist based in India.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technology professional passionate about industrial automation, robotics, and digital transformation to contribute to the development of next-generation operational solutions. The role focuses on designing, integrating, and testing advanced IIoT, sensor, telemetry, and robotics technologies that support complex industrial environments. Working within a collaborative and innovation-driven setting, you will partner with multidisciplinary teams to bridge physical and digital systems, delivering impactful solutions from proof of concept through field deployment. The position offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies including robotics, cloud integration, AI/ML, and industrial data platforms. It is ideal for professionals who enjoy solving complex challenges and driving technological innovation across large-scale operational environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, implement, and test Industrial IoT, sensor, telemetry, and robotics solutions.
  • Translate business challenges and operational requirements into scalable technology solutions and technical specifications.
  • Support the development and integration of robotics technologies for inspection, monitoring, situational awareness, and intervention activities.
  • Design, document, and execute quality assurance processes, testing methodologies, and validation procedures for automation solutions.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and support field testing activities, proof-of-concept deployments, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Develop end-to-end solutions covering hardware, software, networking, cloud integration, and operational deployment requirements.
  • Perform data validation activities across the entire technology stack, from field devices and sensors to cloud platforms and visualization tools.
  • Collaborate with technology vendors, evaluate emerging solutions, and provide recommendations on architecture, implementation, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide remote support for installations, operational deployments, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting initiatives.
  • Build, adapt, and maintain dashboards and visualization tools to support operational insights and decision-making.
  • Monitor emerging trends in IoT, robotics, automation, AI/ML, and industrial technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and optimization.
Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, Robotics, Electronics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, IoT technologies, and systems integration projects.
  • Proven field experience within industrial or operational environments, preferably within the energy, manufacturing, or process industries.
  • Exposure to robotics programming and experience working with technologies such as Robot Operating System (ROS), Linux, embedded systems, or similar operating environments.
  • Experience with hardware and software integration, embedded systems, and end-to-end solution deployment.
  • Strong understanding of networking technologies, including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, cellular communications, and industrial connectivity protocols.
  • Experience with field testing, proof-of-concept deployments, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Knowledge of sensor integration, remote device maintenance, data processing, computer vision, and AI/ML applications in industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, digital security principles, and data visualization platforms.
  • Understanding of technology commercialization, intellectual asset management, and innovation processes is considered advantageous.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and scripting for automation and integration tasks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results under pressure.
  • Previous experience within the oil and gas industry or other highly regulated industrial sectors is highly desirable.
