About the role
This position is best suited for an able and dedicated occupational therapist to treat musculoskeletal problems and improve the function and independence of infants, children, and adolescents facing various health conditions. Your main responsibility as a pediatric occupational therapist will be to improve children's fine and visual motor skills, strength, range of motion, endurance, balance, coordination, sensory processing abilities, and assist with any challenges regarding activities of daily living.
What you'll do
- Conducting physical and psychological assessments of clients and/or developing/following a treatment plan.
- Assessing the home and other environments of clients and deciding what adjustments are needed.
- Providing skilled occupational therapy services in the most appropriate environment for the child and the family (e.g. home, clinic, community)
- Advising on adaptive equipment to help clients with daily activities.
- Developing physical rehabilitation programs to help clients gain new skills or regain lost skills.
- Educating caregivers and family members of clients on patient care.
- Evaluating results and progress of occupational therapy on clients.
- Maintaining professional knowledge and technical skills to provide clients with the best treatment program available.
- Complying with federal, state, and local certification requirements.
- Evaluating patient condition regarding physical and basic mental health.
- Consulting with other care team members to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American -Occupational Therapy Association).
- Certified by the National Board for Certification (NBCOT).
- Current CPR certification
- Current driver’s license and auto insurance
- At least 2 years' experience as a pediatric occupational therapist within the last 5 years.
- Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and occupational/physical therapy programs.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to take care of clients with different personalities.
- Ability to show compassion and empathy toward each family’s individual circumstances
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
- Ability to assess patient conditions and work with treatment plans
The pay range for this role is:
65 - 75 USD per hour(Salinas Office)
