Facilities Manager

REPORTS TO: Pastor/Business Manager POSITION DETAIL: Full Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Manager advances the parish vision by fostering safe and clean facilities that promote the mission of Sacred Heart Parish. Reporting to the Business Manager working under the direction of the Pastor and in collaboration with clergy, staff, volunteers, and vendors; this position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the campus buildings, grounds, and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To complete this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and fulfill each responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Responsible for providing a safe and secure physical environment for our parish community.
  • Responsible for cleanliness, appearance, functionality and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment owned or rented by the parish.
  • Responsible for development of equipment replacement and facilities upkeep schedules, and timely acquisition of approved replacements.
  • Responsible for developing process improvement initiatives that enhance functions or improve financial performance of the organization.
  • Works with the Business Manager to maintain accurate records of equipment purchases and facilities documents (construction documents, blueprints, site surveys, renderings, certifications, and licenses).
  • Responsible for scheduling routine and special cleaning projects and equipment repairs to minimize conflicts with scheduled events.
  • Responsible for direction and collaboration of volunteers and vendors on maintenance and projects.
  • Assists with risk management, facilities management, budgetary expenditures, and technology infrastructure support.
  • Makes the routine purchases of the organization, including maintenance and cleaning supplies avoiding shortcuts that might save dollars at the expense of safety.
  • Assists in determining and recommends the use of outside contractors for operational tasks that are beyond the scope of staff expertise with a focus on safety first and meeting all codes and Diocesan regulations.
  • Schedules and supervises the work of contractors onsite.
  • Performs routine maintenance such as lawn care as well as janitorial and laundry duties.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of experience in building operation and/or maintenance
  • Has a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Experience in directing and collaborating volunteers
  • The ability to solve problematic situations in varied conditions
  • Preferred familiarity with the Catholic faith
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google applications

  • Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Frequently operates loud machinery.
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
