Position Information
This position is to support of the Agricultural Research operation at the Coachella Valley Research station. This position will be responsible for weed and pest control, facility maintenance, and cultural care for tree, vine and row crops. Irrigate research plots, install and maintain irrigation systems. Maintenance and minor repair of equipment.The full salary range for the Agricultural Technician is $26.69 - $36.62 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $26.69 - $28.88 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

| Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations; one year of agricultural experience, or a demonstrated ability to operate light and/or non-complex agricultural equipment; and knowledge’s and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. |
| Experience and knowledge are essential to the successful operation, installation, and repair of irrigation systems. |
| Experience in planting, pruning, and maintaining rows, trees, and vine crops. |
| Ability to operate light and/or noncomplex agricultural equipment such as trucks, tractors, and miscellaneous farming equipment. |
| Ability to perform maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment. |
| Demonstrated experience and skill in the use of hand and power tools used in the normal repair of irrigation equipment. |
| Ability to record time records and plot location information. |
| Ability to read, speak and understand English as well as perform basic arithmetic function and daily record keeping. |
| Knowledge in the application of fertilizers and pesticides. |
| Basic knowledge of plant irrigation practices |
| Strong general farming background. |
