This role sits at the intersection of procurement strategy, contract management, and organizational risk oversight, supporting a mission-driven national organization with complex operational needs. You will lead procurement activities across multiple internal teams, ensuring that sourcing, vendor selection, and contracting processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational policies. Acting as both a strategic advisor and hands-on operator, you will review and negotiate contracts, assess vendor risk, and help build scalable procurement frameworks. The environment is collaborative and cross-functional, involving close partnership with finance, IT, HR, marketing, and administrative teams. You will also play a key role in training and mentoring staff on procurement best practices, improving consistency and reducing risk exposure across the organization. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong legal and contracting knowledge with practical operational execution and stakeholder management skills.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will oversee procurement strategy execution, contract negotiation, and vendor management processes while ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. You will also contribute to process improvement, risk mitigation, and internal capability building across procurement activities.

  • Lead procurement planning, sourcing strategies, and solicitation development in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts to mitigate legal, financial, operational, and reputational risks
  • Conduct vendor due diligence, including financial, compliance, and performance assessments
  • Develop and implement procurement policies, standards, and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to support purchasing of goods and services across departments
  • Train, mentor, and advise staff on procurement processes and contracting requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement governance and reduce organizational risk exposure
  • Support continuous improvement of procurement systems, tools, and documentation
Requirements

You bring strong experience in procurement, contracting, or legal operations, with the ability to manage complex agreements and guide stakeholders through structured sourcing processes. You are comfortable working independently in a remote environment while balancing multiple priorities.

  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification with 7+ years of relevant procurement and contracting experience (JD preferred with 4+ years)
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, contract law fundamentals, and compliance frameworks
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships across multiple categories
  • Ability to identify and mitigate legal, financial, and operational risks in procurement activities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex contract concepts into clear language
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under deadlines
  • Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues in procurement or contract processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint, Teams, and Word
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with federal procurement environments or public sector frameworks is a plus
