Road Supervisor in CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia at JAUNT INC

The Road Supervisor provides day-to-day field supervision and operational support for Jaunt's transportation services. Reporting to the Director of Safety & Training, this position supervises assigned operators, promotes safe and efficient service delivery, responds to operational issues, and provides coaching to improve employee performance. The Road Supervisor works collaboratively across the organization to support safe, reliable, and customer-focused transportation services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Operations

• Provide daily field supervision and operational support to assigned operators.
• Monitor service delivery to ensure compliance with operating procedures, schedules, and customer service expectations.
• Respond to service disruptions, accidents, emergencies, customer concerns, and other operational issues as assigned.
• Conduct field observations and ride checks to monitor operator performance and service quality.
• Serve as a resource to operators by providing guidance and assistance throughout daily operations.

Employee Supervision and Development

• Coach operators to promote safe driving practices, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service.
• Monitor operator performance and provide timely feedback, coaching, and documentation.
• Assist with new operator training, behind-the-wheel instruction, and CDL development as assigned.
• Support the consistent application of organizational policies, procedures, and work rules.
• Recommend corrective action and recognition based on employee performance.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

• Promote compliance with all applicable organizational policies and transportation regulations.
• Investigate vehicle accidents, incidents, and customer complaints and prepare required documentation.
• Assist in identifying safety concerns and recommending corrective actions.
• Support implementation of safety initiatives and training programs.
• Maintain required operational and safety records.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Review and reconcile operator time records.
• Maintain attendance, performance, incident, and operational documentation.
• Prepare reports and documentation related to operational activities, investigations, and employee performance.
• Communicate operational concerns and recommendations to the Director of Safety & Training.

Operational Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with Training Supervisors, Scheduling, Dispatch, Customer Service, Fleet Maintenance, and other departments to support efficient service delivery.
• Assist with special events, emergency operations, and service adjustments as assigned.
• Serve as a relief operator when operational needs require.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two (2) years of supervisory, lead, or transportation operations experience.
• Valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement.
• Driving record that meets Jaunt's insurance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in public transit, passenger transportation, or another customer-focused service environment.
• Experience coaching or training employees.
• Knowledge of DOT, FTA, ADA, and CDL regulations.

• Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
• Ability to investigate incidents and prepare accurate reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen and meeting Jaunt's driving record standards for insurance eligibility. Continued employment is contingent upon compliance with Jaunt's Substance Abuse Policy and maintaining a driving record that meets the organization's insurance requirements.
