We are looking for a hands-on Safety & Training coordinator to help drive safety efforts across our multiple facilities.
Key Job Elements
Safety
· Coordinate and support company safety and training programs to promote a safe, compliant, and well-trained workforce across company locations.
· Ensures the availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing/devices, and first aid supplies
· Support incident and near-miss investigations, assist with identifying root causes and corrective actions, and incorporate lessons learned into future training.
· Recommends and follows up to verify the implementation of corrective actions regarding safety
· Manage and support the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, including project coordination, procedure development, and compliance oversight to protect employees working on energized equipment.
· Maintains records on safety inspections and inventory of safety & fire equipment and devices
· Follows procedures to monitor health and safety at designated locations such as ergonomics, air quality, and waste disposal
· Lead and support machine guarding projects, including hazard identification, solution coordination, and verification of compliance with safety standards
· Knows, applies, and documents state, OSHA General Industry, and federal regulations in order to identify problems and find solutions
· Manage safe work procedures and trains personnel
· Plan, organize, and monthly safety meetings to review performance, communicate expectations, address trends
· Conduct and maintain Job Safety Analysis to identify task specific hazards and define and define safe work practices for operational roles.
· Travel between company locations as needed to conduct training, inspections, safety meetings, and program support
Training
· Maintain employee safety / training records, monitor required training and certifications, and coordinate renewals and refresher training as needed.
· Define training needs for all employees, identify internal or external sources to meet those needs.
· Work with managers to define new hire onboarding programs, establish development plans and work with new hires to ensure completion of programs.
· Manage the organization’s Learning Management System, ensure material is up to date, and meets the needs of the business.
· Work to develop training programs, utilizing available internal videos, presentations, documents, procedures etc.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Business, Education/Training, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant safety and training experience may be considered.
· Strong understanding of OSHA General Industry standards
· Identifies complex issues and is solution-based, elevating as necessary
· Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively train employees at varying levels of experience.
· Ability to travel between sites in the San Antonio area
· Familiarity with lithium battery safety, handling, and risk mitigation practices preferred
· Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours based on company needs
· Must be able to perform physical requirements of job including but not limited to sitting and/or standing through duration of shift, lifting up to 50 lbs., and climbing of ladders
