Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations with a strong emphasis on healthcare revenue cycle activities. This role ensures accuracy and compliance with GAAP, supports financial reporting, and strengthens the integrity of revenue-related processes across the organization. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in month-end close, account reconciliations, and continuous improvement of accounting and RCM workflows. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy of revenue and expense recognition
- Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes, including revenue cycle-related entries and reconciliations
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal accounting policies, and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation
- Oversee monthly invoicing across Business Units, ensuring alignment with billing, collections, and payer reimbursement workflows
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting, billing, collections, and cash application processes
- Analyze financial and operational data and provide insights to management
- Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff
- Assist with system implementations, upgrades, or process improvements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as HR, Payroll, and Operations to ensure accurate financial outcomes
- Support treasury function, including cash forecasting and monitoring of collections performance
- Prepare ad hoc reports and conduct investigations related to accounting or revenue cycle matters
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; healthcare or RCM experience preferred
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
· Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Sage Intact)
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
· Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
