Job Description
At El Five, hospitality is performance, leadership is presence, and culture is everything.The General Manager is responsible for leading the front-of-house operation while shaping the overall guest, staff, and business experience of the restaurant. This role is equal parts operator, coach, strategist, culture-builder, and host.Our managers are guardians of the Edible Beats trilogy: exceptional guest experiences, thriving culture, financial stewardship, and operational safety.The ideal candidate is deeply hospitality-driven, emotionally intelligent, highly organized, and relentlessly committed to growth — both personal and organizational. - Works closely with the AGM and broader management team to oversee daily operations and strategic initiatives
- Typical schedule consists of 5 days / approximately 50 hours per week
- Manager schedules include a mix of opening, closing, and peak-volume support shifts
- Administrative time is built into the schedule for planning, communication, coaching, and operational follow-through
- Ownership and operations leadership remain actively involved in the day-to-day life of the restaurant, fostering a collaborative and highly engaged leadership environment

The GM is expected to maintain an active and visible presence on the floor while ensuring operational excellence across all areas of service.Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all opening and closing systems and procedures
- Maintaining adherence to all health, labor, alcohol, and safety regulations
- Conducting regular walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and attention to detail throughout the space
- Ensuring all supplies, equipment, and operational tools are in place and functioning properly
- Providing real-time coaching, support, and accountability to FOH staff
- Maintaining strong communication with culinary and beverage leadership
- Leading service through floor presence, awareness, and hospitality instincts
- Supporting hosts, expos, servers, bartenders, and support staff throughout service
- Anticipating and troubleshooting operational challenges before they escalate
- Personally engaging with guests to elevate experiences and resolve concerns with empathy and confidence
The GM sets the tone for service every shift — through energy, standards, communication, and leadership by example.
Management & Administrative LeadershipThe GM plays a critical role in developing systems, people, and operational consistency.Responsibilities include:
- Leading regular communication with ownership, operations, HR, and management teams
- Identifying opportunities to improve service, culture, systems, and financial performance
- Overseeing performance management, coaching, reviews, and disciplinary processes
- Participating in hiring, onboarding, and termination decisions for FOH staff
- Monitoring financial procedures including cash handling, tip distribution, end-of-day reporting, and POS integrity
- Maintaining operational fluency across all major systems including:
- R365
- OpenTable
- SpotOn / Teamwork
- Paylocity
- UberEats
- ShiftNotes
- Google Workspace
- Tracking and analyzing labor, sales trends, revenue opportunities, and cost controls
- Maintaining consistent documentation of guest issues, maintenance needs, staff performance, and operational concerns
- Leading and contributing to pre-shift meetings with intention and clarity
- Taking ownership of department-specific projects and operational priorities based on strengths and business needs
As part of the broader Edible Beats leadership ecosystem, the GM collaborates closely with company leadership and support teams across multiple departments and concepts.This includes:
- Participating in financial reviews and operational strategy discussions
- Developing fluency in P&L performance, labor management, and cost analysis
- Supporting sister concepts when needed, including Root Down, Ophelia’s, and Vital Root
- Building strong working relationships with Operations, HR, Marketing, Maintenance, Tech, and Administrative teams
- Contributing to the long-term evolution and sustainability of the Edible Beats organization
