Job Description
Position Summary
The Reconstruction Estimator is responsible for developing detailed repair and reconstruction estimates for insurance-related property damage projects, including fire, water, storm, and mold losses.
This role requires strong proficiency in Xactimate, Symbility, and other estimating platforms commonly used by insurance carriers and contractors. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, capable of accurate scope development, and able to operate effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Reconstruction Estimator is responsible for developing the full scope of work and associated cost estimates required to rebuild damaged residential and commercial properties following mitigation.
• Inspect damaged residential and commercial properties
• Take measurements, photographs, and document existing conditions
• Prepare detailed reconstruction estimates using Xactimate, Symbility, and other industry-standard estimating platforms
• Determine labor, material, and time requirements for repairs
• Develop comprehensive scopes of work, including but not limited to drywall, flooring, roofing, and structural repairs
• Coordinate with insurance adjusters regarding pricing, scope, and approvals
• Prepare and manage estimate supplements, including identification of missing or additional scope items
• Support the transition of projects from estimating into production and reconstruction phases
Qualifications
• Strong experience in construction or restoration estimating
• Advanced proficiency in Xactimate, Symbility, and other estimating platforms used by carriers and contractors (required)
• Solid understanding of insurance claims processes and adjuster workflows
• Ability to accurately scope structural repairs and complex losses
• Strong communication skills with customers, insurance adjusters, and contractors
• TPA program experience strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of carrier guidelines and estimate review procedures
• High attention to detail with strong documentation accuracy
• Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems
• Ability to work independently while functioning within a centralized team structure
• Professional collaboration and communication skills
• Willingness and ability to travel to multiple job sites as required
