Community Catalyst is the national health justice organization working to ensure care is accessible, affordable, and accountable to the people it serves—and that racial bias does not determine who receives care. For more than two decades, Community Catalyst has partnered with state and community advocates to change systems before harm occurs. The organization integrates policy reform, community organizing, data science, narrative strategy, and thought leadership to advance structural change in health care.
The Opportunity
As the organization sets out on its strategic plan, this new position will work within the enterprise communications team at Community Catalyst to generate a wide range of content telling the story of the organization’s impact and role within the broader movement for health justice. This role will work closely with the Deputy Director of Communications and the Digital Director to; create a steady stream of communications materials advancing the organization’s vision and image; steward the organization’s image and voice; and review outcomes/analytics to seek areas for improvement in communications campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Enterprise Communications team with day-to-day organizational communications. This includes but is not limited to:
- Monitor press coverage of the organization and related issues and identify opportunities for education and collaboration with press outlets
- Craft press releases, press pitches, op-eds, talking points, emails, blogs, ensuring consistent organizational voice
- Prep organizational spokespeople for interviews with traditional media outlets as well as social-first direct-to-camera video
- Develop relationships with potential storytellers and work with them to develop external communications assets and build their power for advocacy opportunities
- Support the Digital Director on both written and visual content generation for external digital channels
- Work with technical assistance providers to identify and craft communications uplifting work by the organization and our partners for a variety of audiences
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of professional experience in Marketing and/or Public Relations
- Executive messaging strategy and brand voice management
- Strong writing skills across channels including press releases, marketing materials, social, email, blog, and website content creation for both funder and media audiences
- Demonstrated proficiency working with reporters and organizational spokespeople
- Platform-native strategy for:
- Bluesky
- Strong eye for digital design and experience developing visual assets for social media platforms
- Editorial calendar management
- Social media platform analytics interpretation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with digital ad campaign set up, execution and evaluation
- AI-driven content optimization tools
- Accessibility & inclusive content standards
- Social listening & sentiment analysis
- Familiarity with enterprise tools (e.g., Muck Rack, Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Planner; Wordpress and EveryAction)

Measures of Success
Within the first 6 months, this incumbent will:
- Have a full understanding and comfort with all tools the Enterprise Communications team uses including, but not limited to: Muck Rank, Agorapulse, Soapboxx, Planner, EveryAction
- Be able to draft press and digital communications and create visual assets consistent with brand voice
- Understand the organization’s strategic priorities and programmatic work and cocreate several communications campaign plans with the broader Enterprise Communications teamthat center stories and storytellers fostered by the incumbent.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None, though this role may act as a primary point of contact for external vendors, when applicable.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a remote, office-based position performed from a home or remote workspace using standard office equipment and technology. Occasional travel may be required based on organizational needs. The role involves extended periods of sitting, regular computer use, and virtual communication. Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $68,000-$86,000 based on a full-time schedule. Placement within the range is determined by role scope, relevant experience, skills, geographic considerations, and internal equity. Compensation is reviewed and approved in accordance with Community Catalyst’s compensation framework and organizational policies.
This position is included in a collective bargaining unit represented by a staff union, Community Catalyst United, and specific employment terms are subject to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
This position is eligible for Community Catalyst’s employee benefits program, subject to plan terms and eligibility requirements.
