Job Description
Our fast-paced family law firm is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and paralegals in delivering exceptional client service. The ideal candidate communicates well, is comfortable in a Mac environment, and thrives in a dynamic setting. Legal or office experience ideal — we welcome candidates from client-facing backgrounds seeking a meaningful, long-term role in the legal field. Kennebunk or Brunswick location.
Compensation:$20 - $23 hourly commensurate with experience
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys and paralegals by managing daily schedules, opening and closing new case files
- Prepare and organize legal documents, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information to support case progress.
- Manage electronic and physical filing systems, ensuring all documents are easily accessible and up-to-date.
- Coordinate with court personnel and other legal professionals to facilitate smooth case proceedings.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication with all parties involved in a case.
Qualifications:
- A college degree is preferred, but significant relevant work experience will also be considered
* 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or professional office setting, handling administrative tasks such as scheduling, correspondence, and CRM software
* Familiarity with legal software, case management, or docketing programs is a plus
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and quick turnaround times
* Proficient in Mac OS, Apple Mail, and Google Suite
* Strong team player
* Excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Competitive salary of $90,000–$180,000, based on experience and demonstrated capabilities, plus annual performance-based bonus opportunities.
