JOB SUMMARY

The Material Floater supports shipping, receiving, warehouse, and production operations by receiving, moving, staging, storing, and shipping materials accurately and safely. This position maintains inventory accuracy, uses warehouse systems, operates authorized material handling equipment, and follows company safety and warehouse procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Receives, inspects, and verifies incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation.

• Identifies and communicates shortages, damages, discrepancies, and receiving issues to appropriate internal teams.

• Unloads, labels, stocks, stages, and stores materials in designated warehouse locations.

• Picks, kits, issues, and stages materials for production, work orders, internal transfers, and external vendors.

• Packs and ships finished goods using established system processes, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Epicor.

• Coordinates shipments with carriers and internal teams.

• Records receiving, shipping, inventory, and material movement transactions in applicable systems.

• Supports inventory accuracy through stocking, cycle counts, audits, FIFO (First In, First Out) practices, and discrepancy resolution.

• Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other authorized material handling equipment in accordance with company safety requirements.

• Maintains accurate documentation and follows established warehouse, inventory control, and safety procedures.

• Performs other related duties as assigned over the course of employment.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORK CONDITIONS

• Regularly lifts and moves materials up to 50 pounds.

• Frequently stands, walks, bends, twists, reaches, lifts, carries, moves, and stages materials during the workday.

• Operates authorized warehouse and production equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, and lifts, as assigned and certified.

• Maintains awareness of surroundings and responds to visual and audible safety signals.

• Uses required personal protective equipment and follows company safety standards in operational areas.

• Works in areas where noise, moving equipment, foot traffic, and varying temperatures may be present.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Minimum 1 year of receiving, shipping, warehouse, material handling, or inventory control experience.

• Working knowledge of FIFO (First In, First Out), cycle counts, inventory accuracy practices, and warehouse procedures.

• Experience verifying shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and related shipping or receiving documentation.

• Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and inventory or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

• Ability to read and interpret English instructions, labels, diagrams, packing slips, bills of lading, purchase orders, and procedures.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.

• Demonstrated diligence, accuracy, organization, flexibility, problem-solving, and time management skills.

• Forklift certification required for equipment operation. Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained as required.
