HR Business Partner — South Africa

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support our South Africa operations. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, managers, employees, and key stakeholders across the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, labour relations, workforce planning, talent management, performance management, policy guidance, organizational change, and HR operations.



The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of South African labour legislation, Employment Equity, B-BBEE, Skills Development, union engagement, and workforce planning. This role requires a practical, hands-on HR professional who can balance local compliance and transformation objectives with business needs in a global HR environment.



Key responsibilities include:
  • Partnering with leaders on workforce planning, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and HR operational support.
  • Managing employee relations, grievances, disciplinary matters, CCMA matters, labour relations, and union engagement.
  • Lead Employment Equity, B-BBEE, Skills Development, WSP/ATR reporting, SETA/QCTO requirements, and transformation initiatives.
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, job changes, promotions, performance management, succession planning, employee development, and terminations.
  • Advising on HR policies, South African employment legislation, contract changes, leaves, absenteeism, and employee communications.
  • Supporting payroll-related inputs, time and attendance processes, compensation/bonus processes, HR reporting, vendor coordination, and HR systems improvement.
  • Building local talent pipelines through relationships with universities, TVET colleges, SETAs, professional bodies, and recruitment partners.


  • Qualifications:
  • Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Management, Labour Relations, Law, or a related field.
  • 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including strategic HR business partnering within a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or similarly complex operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation, Employment Equity, B-BBEE, Skills Development, employee relations, and union engagement.
  • Experience supporting mixed workforces and partnering with leaders across operational, technical, and professional employee groups.
  • Experience with labour relations, collective bargaining, disciplinary processes, grievances, CCMA matters, and organisational change initiatives.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing, stakeholder management, analytical, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience with SAP, SAP SuccessFactors, payroll, or workforce management systems is a plus.
  • SABPP registration and certifications in Labour Law, Employment Equity, or B-BBEE are advantageous.
