Job Description
About Cozey
At Cozey, we're not just selling furniture. We're improving the living spaces of customers across Canada, the United States, and Australia, and our vision is straightforward: to become the world's leading furniture company. We use data to continuously learn, improve, and adapt, and we foster an environment where everyone is encouraged to share ideas, push boundaries, take risks, and see their visions come to life. We want to give you the tools you need to succeed.
Growing across three countries means the numbers underneath have to hold up. Every order shipped, every invoice paid, every unit sitting in a warehouse eventually shows up in the close. This internship puts you inside that work, on a team that's actively rethinking how it gets done.
The mission of the Finance & Accounting Intern at Cozey
Your mission is to support the accounting team across the work that keeps Cozey's financial picture accurate: sales reporting and operational finance analysis, accounts payable, inventory valuation, and audit documentation.
You'll get hands-on experience with month-end close, working on real entries and real analysis rather than watching from the side. You'll also collaborate across teams to solve problems and improve how the work gets done, including with AI tools the team is actively putting to work on finance problems.
We're looking for someone detail-oriented and analytical, comfortable moving fast, and curious about how a growing business actually runs, who's excited to be part of a Canadian start-up with very large ambitions.
What you'll be doing:
- Perform operational and financial analysis across costs and operational KPIs.
- Support accounts payable activities, including invoice review and coding, reconciliations, and vendor follow-ups.
- Enter and validate data related to inventory valuation.
- Support month-end close, including analysis and preparation of journal entries.
- Assist with audit documentation and ad-hoc accounting analyses as they come up.
- Look for ways to improve existing workflows, including with AI tools, and collaborate across teams to put them in place.
What we're looking for:
- Bilingualism (English and French), and currently pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. You notice when something doesn't reconcile and you go find out why.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with a dynamic team.
- The ability to think creatively, independently, and strategically, paired with clear communication.
- Eagerness to put AI tools to work on complex business problems.
What we offer:
- A team of curious, driven people who like building things, and a culture where everyone's ideas land on the table.
- Exposure to Cozey's leadership team and the chance to learn from the people shaping where the company goes next.
- Room to experiment with AI and new learning tools.
- A salary of $20/hour.
- 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work hybrid.
- A bright, dog-friendly office furnished with the pieces you'll be talking about all semester.
If you're ready to join us on our mission to build the best customer experience in furniture, we'd love to hear from you.
