Job Summary

Under the direction of the Creative Director, the Art Manager leads the Art Team in the creation, construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation of all artistic and environmental elements across Rock City properties and organizational events. This role is responsible for executing creative concepts with high quality, operational efficiency, and alignment to brand standards, ensuring all physical environments enhance the overall guest experience.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on creative leader who thrives at the intersection of artistry and execution. This individual is equally comfortable working in conceptual design discussions and leading on-the-ground build and installation efforts. They bring strong project management discipline, a deep understanding of fabrication and environmental design, and a passion for delivering high-quality guest experiences.

They are a collaborative partner across departments, a developer of people, and a culture carrier who models professionalism, accountability, and craftsmanship.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, develop, and manage the Art Team, including full-time, part-time, seasonal, and contract partners
  • Assign projects, delegate work, and ensure completion with quality and accuracy
  • Create and manage weekly schedules to ensure efficient staffing and project coverage
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management aligned with organizational standards

Creative Execution & Production

  • Oversee the construction, installation, maintenance, teardown, and storage of attraction elements and event environments
  • Ensure all projects are executed in alignment with creative direction, brand standards, and operational requirements
  • Interpret build plans, drawings, and concept visualizations into finished products
  • Oversee the evaluation, repair, and renovation of existing property elements

Project & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and cross-functional leaders to execute creative concepts and special projects
  • Coordinate internal teams and external resources to ensure timely project completion
  • Support the delivery of seasonal events and large-scale activations across all company properties

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Partner in the development of annual budgets and manage ongoing project expenses to budget
  • Review monthly financial statements and ensure fiscal accountability
  • Code and submit invoices accurately and in a timely manner

Safety & Compliance

  • Support and enforce all company safety standards and procedures, including OSHA compliance
  • Ensure proper training, safe tool usage, and adherence to safety protocols across all projects

Guest Experience & Culture

  • Deliver and model excellent guest service to internal and external customers
  • Uphold and demonstrate the organization’s Culture of Excellence
  • Ensure all environments and experiences positively impact guest satisfaction

Additional Responsibilities

  • Facilitate team skill development and training related to materials, tools, and processes
  • Maintain organization and management of materials, tools, and storage areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a professional arts, fabrication, or environmental design environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and projects
  • Experience supporting large-scale installations, events, or themed environments preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to motivate and manage others
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp/CAD, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute from plans, drawings, and creative concepts
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills in both one-on-one and group settings
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, financial tracking, and operational processes

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license required.

Availability & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally for outreach, events, and partnership development.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including workshop and installation settings
