Job Description
Position Title: Perioperative Supply Chain Inventory Specialist
Position Summary: The Perioperative Inventory Specialist is responsible for the daily management, replenishment, organization, and accuracy of inventory supporting the Perioperative departments, Operating Room (OR), Endoscopy, Anesthesia, Cath Lab, and Surgical Center South Ambulatory center. This position ensures supplies are available to support patient care while maintaining accurate inventory records and minimizing waste. Working under the direction of the Perioperative Supply Chain Coordinator, the Inventory Specialist performs inventory replenishment, cycle counting, expiration management, PAR optimization, product stocking, supply organization, and inventory reconciliation. The position collaborates closely with clinical staff, surgical technologists, buyers, warehouse personnel, and vendors to maintain an efficient perioperative supply chain. This position serves as the frontline inventory resource for perioperative services and plays a critical role in supporting operational efficiency, product availability, and cost containment initiatives. Qualifications: Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Associate’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.

Minimum 2 years experience in one or more of the following:
- Hospital Supply Chain / Materials Management
- Operating Room inventory management
- Perioperative services support
- Healthcare logistics or inventory operations
- Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) experience
- Experience working as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- Experience supporting Perioperative inventory management and/or procedural supply coordination preferred.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- Maintain inventory levels for assigned perioperative locations.
- Replenish PAR and Asset locations daily.
- Stock supplies in assigned Periop and procedural areas.
- Ensure supplies are available for scheduled procedures.
- Rotate inventory using First-Expire-First-Out (FEFO) methodology.
- Remove expired or damaged products from inventory.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend PAR adjustments.
- Perform daily cycle counts.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Assist with annual physical inventory.
- Reconcile inventory variances.
- Maintain accurate inventory transactions within ERP system.
- Ensure inventory locations remain organized and standardized.
- Stage supplies for high-volume procedures.
- Respond to urgent supply requests.
- Coordinate replacement of backordered items with the Coordinator.
- Assist with product conversions.
- Support implementation of new products.
- Maintain supply room organization using Lean principles.
- Label inventory accurately.
- Verify product locations.
- Assist with item master corrections.
- Report pricing or catalog discrepancies.
- Assist with product recall removal.
- Ensure lot and expiration information is maintained when applicable.
- Assist vendors with stocking approved inventory.
- Verify vendor deliveries.
- Report vendor performance issues to the coordinator.
- Maintain vendor stocking schedules.
- Assist Periop staff locating supplies.
- Support emergency and add-on cases.
- Maintain clean and organized inventory areas.
- Assist with case cart supply readiness.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Support Value Analysis implementation activities.
- Knowledge of hospital inventory systems.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move inventory safely.
- ERP inventory system experience preferred.
- Barcode scanning experience preferred.
- Maintain Joint Commission inventory standards.
- Follow infection prevention requirements.
- Comply with hospital purchasing policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
- Report product quality concerns.
- Support product recall activities.
