Job Description
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Medical-Surgical Unit provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The CNA assists patients with activities of daily living, monitors and documents patient information, and supports the healthcare team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients with a variety of medical conditions. Clinical experience in an acute care environment preferred. Interpersonal skills used to effectively communicate; ability to problem solve; ability to cope when dealing with patients and physicians.
Work Environment:The Medical-Surgical Unit is a fast-paced environment caring for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical recovery needs, and various treatment plans. The CNA plays a vital role in promoting patient comfort, safety, and positive outcomes through compassionate, patient-centered care.
Essential Job Functions:
· Documents vital signs, intakes, outputs, heights, weights, and dietary intake.
· Provides a safe patient care environment, which is stocked, clean and organized.
· Assesses discharge-planning needs and notifies appropriate personnel.
· Interacts with patient and families appropriate to age of patient; delivers care according to age and developmental level of patient.
· Demonstrates flexibility as patient needs change.
· Performs proficiently in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
· Achieves quality performance when adapting to new routines, procedures and skills.
· Uses the problem solving process to provide quality care based on the assessed need of the patient.
Assist with HCAPHs scores and patient satisfaction.
Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- BLS Required
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients with appropriate assistance and equipment.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required.
