This role serves as a key operational and customer-facing point of contact during the onboarding of caregivers into behavioral health services, ensuring a clear and supportive experience around insurance coverage and financial expectations. You will help families understand their benefits, estimated costs, and available payment options while guiding them through the early stages of care access. The position requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to translate complex insurance and billing information into clear, actionable guidance. Working in a fully remote and collaborative environment, you will partner closely with care coordination and clinical teams to ensure a seamless onboarding journey. Accuracy, compliance, and sensitivity are essential as you support individuals navigating important healthcare decisions. - Serve as the primary financial and billing contact for caregivers during the onboarding process into behavioral health services.
- Explain insurance benefits, coverage details, and estimated out-of-pocket costs in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Respond to initial billing, insurance, and payment-related questions, escalating complex inquiries to appropriate insurance providers or internal teams.
- Provide transparent information on payment options and financial responsibility for care services.
- Collaborate with care coordination and clinical teams to ensure a smooth and supportive onboarding experience.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all caregiver interactions within internal systems.
- Ensure all communications comply with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
- Support resolution of billing-related issues and contribute to process improvements.
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare customer service, patient access, medical billing, or insurance verification.
- Strong understanding of health insurance terminology, benefit structures, and prior authorization processes.
- Experience working with prior authorization or cost-related healthcare workflows preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a remote work environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to explain complex information in simple terms.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health or pediatric care environments is a plus.
- Must be a full-time resident of the United States.
