Job Description
PT - Thurday's 5pm -10pm
Program: Cress RSS
Scope of Service: Provides non-judgmental phone recovery support services and serves as a consumer advocate to support clients in their community. Assists clients over the phone in pursuing their recovery goals by providing information, resource referrals, emotional support and coping strategies that have been helpful in their own recovery. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Client Care:
• Answer inbound calls from individuals seeking emotional support in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner
• Provides telephonic supportive assistance helping clients to maintain community living.
• Utilize listening skills and empathy to address concerns and needs
• Recognize signs of crisis and escalate calls according to organizational guidelines
• Utilize de-escalation skills and techniques to help in problem solving
• Asses caller needs and refer individuals to community resources, mental health services or crisis lines when appropriate
• Maintain appropriate boundaries and follow established protocols
• Accurately document call details, concerns and referrals
• Attends and participates in monthly staff and supervision meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA and organizational guidelines
Environmental Responsibilities:
• Maintains a private and secure remote work space.
• Participates in property upkeep and general office maintenance that supports workplace safety.
• Completes other designated environmental tasks as assigned.
Quality Assurance – Chart Documentation and Professional Development:
• Adheres to policies and practices as outlined in staff handbook and program operations manual.
• Consistently works in a respectful, constructive, and cooperative manner with fellow staff and providers.
• Upholds all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and secures all necessary releases of information for outside communication.
• Models culturally competent behavior interacting with clients, professionals/providers, and fellow staff.
• Maintains accurate electronic records and case files as assigned and in accordance with programming, contractual, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
• Adheres to the standards of the Council on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
• Participates in agency committee work when available or as permitted.
• Completes all trainings as required per program contract and agency policy.
• Attends agency sponsored in-services, outside trainings, conferences and meetings to facilitate continued professional growth and ensure the quality of case management practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
• RSS - High school diploma or equivalent considered if accompanied with a Hartford Healthcare or Advocacy Unlimited Certification and a minimum of one (1) year experience in related behavioral health field.
• Recovery Support Specialist, State certification (CPSRP) required or ability to complete training within 6-months of hire.
• Valid Connecticut Driver’s license with clean driving record is required and must be maintained.
• First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Employee is responsible to maintain ongoing certification.
• Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.
• Knowledge of the community support system and resources preferred.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and overnights as required.
