Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and adaptable School Nurse / Health Educator to join our team. This dual-role position is central to our school community—providing direct nursing care to students across all grade levels while also leading classroom health instruction for approximately 15 hours per week. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing a medical situation and standing in front of a classroom, and brings patience, flexibility, and genuine enthusiasm for working with students who have diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities
Nursing & Student Health Care
• Serve as the primary health resource for all students, from elementary through high school, including those with complex medical, behavioral, and communication needs
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established school protocols
• Conduct health assessments and monitor student conditions; document findings accurately and promptly in electronic health records
• Communicate clearly and proactively with students, families, and staff regarding health status, care plans, and concerns
• Report significant health events or patterns to the Head of School and Lead Nurse
• Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and uphold infection control and compliance standards
Health Education (approx. 15 hours/week)
• Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate health education curricula across grade levels, tailored to the communication and learning needs of TCA students
• Cover topics including personal hygiene, nutrition, mental health and wellness, puberty and reproductive health, and general safety
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school leadership to integrate health content into the broader school curriculum
• Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that reflects TCA’s therapeutic philosophy
Additional Responsibilities
• Provide front desk/receptionist coverage as needed
• Assist with student behavior support and classroom management as directed
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of school operations
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary: $77,000 – $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and licensure

Requirements:Qualifications
Required
• Valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) accepted
• Minimum 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience
• Demonstrated comfort working with children and adolescents across multiple grade levels
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to adapt care and instruction approaches for students with diverse learning profiles and needs
Preferred
• Experience in pediatric, school-based, or special education settings
• Familiarity with individualized health plans (IHPs) and IEP health components
• Experience developing or delivering health education curriculum
