Job Description

Senior Director, Revenue Accounting

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Director, Revenue Accounting in United States.

This senior leadership role owns the global revenue recognition function and ensures accuracy, compliance, and scalability of revenue accounting across a complex, fast-evolving organization. You will play a critical role in applying US GAAP (ASC 606) while shaping how revenue is recognized across subscription, SaaS, perpetual licensing, and enterprise agreements. The role operates at the intersection of finance, sales, legal, and strategy, influencing key commercial decisions and deal structures. It also leads major transformation initiatives, including ERP modernization and the shift toward subscription-based business models. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will provide technical accounting expertise that directly impacts business outcomes and long-term growth. This is a highly visible role leading a global team and ensuring strong financial governance and audit readiness. You will also help shape enterprise policy, controls, and strategic revenue direction across the organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the global revenue recognition function, ensuring compliance with US GAAP (ASC 606) and maintaining consistent accounting treatment across all revenue streams, including SaaS, subscriptions, ELAs, and legacy licensing models.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and business leaders to evaluate deal structures, pricing strategies, and commercial terms to ensure proper accounting outcomes and alignment with business goals.
  • Own and enhance the order-to-cash and revenue accounting processes, including automation tools, ERP integrations, subledger systems, and financial close alignment.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex contracts, including multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, contract modifications, and standalone selling price methodologies.
  • Drive enterprise transformation initiatives such as ERP implementation, process optimization, and adoption of new accounting standards.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, audit readiness, and SOX compliance, including oversight of accruals, reserves, reconciliations, deferred revenue, and contract assets.
  • Lead external audit engagement and support Audit Committee reporting with clear insights into revenue performance, risks, and control effectiveness.
  • Guide the transition toward subscription-based models and support the structuring and expansion of Enterprise License Agreements (ELAs).
  • Lead and develop a global team, building leadership capability, strengthening talent pipelines, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:

This role requires a CPA and 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant leadership responsibility in a complex, global environment. Deep expertise in US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 revenue recognition, is essential, along with proven experience leading global accounting teams and influencing senior stakeholders. Strong experience in software, SaaS, or subscription-based business models is highly preferred, especially in environments undergoing commercial transformation.

  • Advanced expertise in revenue accounting, deal structuring, and contract analysis within complex commercial arrangements.
  • Experience partnering with deal desk, sales, legal, and finance teams to guide commercial decisions and ensure accounting compliance.
  • Strong background in ERP systems, financial infrastructure, and revenue automation tools (e.g., CPQ or subledger platforms).
  • Demonstrated success in leading transformation initiatives such as system implementations, business model changes, or M&A integration.
  • Experience in audit environments, ideally with Big Four or similarly recognized firms, is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
  • Experience with multi-currency operations and global financial compliance is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing global teams.
Benefits:
  • Annual salary range: $141,000 – $197,400 (gross, before taxes)
  • Unlimited vacation policy, plus paid holidays and sick leave
  • Comprehensive health, wellness, life, and disability insurance options
  • 401(k) and Roth retirement savings plan with employer matching
  • Student loan repayment support program
  • Tuition and certification reimbursement opportunities
  • Access to leadership development and professional training programs
  • Inclusive, equal opportunity workplace culture with strong diversity commitments
  • Remote-friendly work environment (where applicable)
  • Background and reference checks conducted as part of the hiring process
