Job Description

Position Summary
The Houseman is responsible for supporting the Housekeeping Department in maintaining a clean, safe, attractive, and welcoming environment throughout the hotel. This position plays an important role in supporting Room Attendants, maintaining public areas, responding to guest requests, transporting supplies and linens, and assisting with the overall operation of the Housekeeping Department.

The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, detail-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced full-service hotel environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Maintain cleanliness and appearance of hotel public areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, and other assigned areas.
-Assist Room Attendants by delivering and collecting linens, towels, amenities, cleaning supplies, and other necessary items.
-Collect and transport soiled linens, towels, and trash to designated areas.
-Restock housekeeping closets, supply areas, and carts as needed.
-Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests for towels, amenities, rollaway beds, cribs, and other housekeeping-related items.
-Assist with the setup, cleaning, and breakdown of meeting and event spaces as needed in coordination with hotel operations and banquet teams.
-Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies when required for guest rooms, meetings, events, or hotel operations.
-Clean and maintain assigned public areas according to hotel standards and established cleaning procedures.
-Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged property, or guest room concerns to the appropriate department.
-Assist with deep-cleaning projects and periodic housekeeping projects as assigned.
-Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are properly used, stored, and maintained.
-Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, chemical handling, and OSHA-related procedures.
-Protect guest privacy and hotel property while performing assigned duties.
-Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor when interacting with guests and team members.
-Communicate effectively with Room Attendants, Housekeeping leadership, Front Office, Engineering, Banquets, and other departments.
-Assist with lost-and-found procedures in accordance with hotel policy.
-Maintain awareness of hotel security procedures and immediately report suspicious activity or safety concerns.
-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Guest Service Responsibilities
-Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to all guests.
-Acknowledge and respond to guest requests in a timely manner.
-Maintain a clean and welcoming environment throughout the hotel.
-Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to assist guests and fellow team members.
-Address guest concerns within the scope of the position and promptly communicate issues to management when necessary.

Qualifications
-Previous housekeeping, hotel, janitorial, custodial, or related experience preferred.
-Previous experience in a full-service hotel environment is a plus.
-Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
-Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
-Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
-Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
-Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements
-Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
-Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift.
-Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
-Ability to push housekeeping carts and other equipment throughout the hotel.
-Ability to navigate stairs and work throughout a multi-floor hotel.
-Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and physical tasks throughout the shift.

Working Conditions
This position works throughout the hotel and may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, noise, varying temperatures, wet floors, and other conditions associated with hotel housekeeping operations. Proper personal protective equipment and established safety procedures must be followed.
