The Senior Foundations Officer will manage a portfolio of foundation funders and prospects while advancing opportunities from cultivation through solicitation, reporting, and renewal. This role plays an important part in translating complex health justice, policy, advocacy, research, and systems-change work into compelling funding opportunities. You will build trusted relationships with foundation partners and serve as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned funders. Working across program, finance, communications, and executive teams, you will coordinate proposals, budgets, reporting, and strategic funding initiatives. The role combines relationship management, persuasive writing, project coordination, and strategic thinking within a mission-driven environment. You will independently manage assigned relationships and deliverables while contributing to portfolio strategy, revenue planning, and high-value opportunities. This is a fully remote position with occasional travel based on organizational needs and offers the opportunity to contribute to efforts advancing health justice and more equitable healthcare systems.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of foundation funders and prospects, including engagement plans, deadlines, next steps, relationship milestones, and revenue goals.
- Cultivate strong relationships with program officers and serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned foundation partners.
- Develop stewardship and renewal strategies that strengthen relationships and create opportunities for continued or expanded support.
- Prepare funder briefings and meeting materials, coordinate internal participants, and ensure timely follow-up after engagements.
- Research, qualify, and advance new foundation prospects aligned with organizational priorities and revenue strategies.
- Conduct prospect outreach and discovery to assess alignment, timing, decision-making processes, and potential paths to funding.
- Lead the development of concept papers, letters of inquiry, proposals, renewal requests, presentations, and other funder-facing materials.
- Translate complex policy, advocacy, research, and systems-change initiatives into clear, persuasive narratives that demonstrate strategy, outcomes, learning, and impact.
- Coordinate proposal development and submission processes, including timelines, internal reviews, budgets, attachments, approvals, and final submissions.
- Manage accurate and timely narrative and financial grant reports while monitoring requirements, deadlines, and relationship milestones.
- Maintain complete and accurate Salesforce records covering contacts, activities, opportunity stages, projections, deadlines, and next steps.
- Build strong relationships across program, finance, communications, executive, and advancement teams to understand emerging priorities, funding needs, and philanthropic opportunities.
- Provide concise portfolio updates for pipeline reviews, forecasting, and advancement planning, proactively escalating risks and barriers.
- Contribute to other fundraising and advancement initiatives as needed to support organizational revenue goals.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in foundation relations, institutional fundraising, advancement, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience managing foundation relationships and funding opportunities through cultivation, solicitation, reporting, and renewal.
- Excellent persuasive writing and editing skills, with experience developing proposals, concept papers, letters of inquiry, presentations, and reports.
- Ability to synthesize complex policy, advocacy, research, or systems-change work into clear and compelling communications for funders.
- Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and multiple stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with funders, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and disciplined data management; Salesforce experience is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive, trust-based relationships with philanthropic partners and internal stakeholders.
- Commitment to health justice, racial equity, and advancing equitable and accessible healthcare systems.
- Experience working with major national, regional, or health-focused foundations is preferred.
- Experience in health justice, public health, health policy, advocacy, racial equity, or systems-change fundraising environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with philanthropic networks, institutional funding trends, or multi-partner fundraising is desirable.
- Salary range of $90,000–$105,000 per year for a full-time schedule.
- Fully remote, office-based position within the United States.
