Job Description
The Senior AP/AR Accountant position works directly with the AP/AR Manager. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, vendor payments, disputing customer chargebacks, collections, and account reconciliations. In addition, the Senior AP/AR Accountant works with staff to ensure all processes are being followed to achieve the above-mentioned. The position will also assist other areas of the Finance Department as needed.
Essential Functions (Included but not limited to):
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Oversee invoice approval workflow related to invoice submission by vendors/departments.
- Work with the staff to coordinate proper posting of transactions into SAP.
- Perform proper accounting subledger reconciliations according to provided deadlines.
- Maintain vendor records in SAP through updating address and banking instructions.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Record and apply customer payments to appropriate accounts.
- Monitor AR aging reports, follow up on outstanding balances, and support collection efforts.
- Address customer billing questions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Investigate, document, and dispute chargebacks with customers; ensure timely resolution and accurate recording.
- Assists in month end close activities in conjunction with the Accounting team.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Senior associate in accounting or 4 years minimum of experience working in Accounting Department
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office including intermediate to advanced Excel.
- High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
- Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to analyze and interpret data and draw valid conclusions that show understanding and insight.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with clients and internal departments.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and workloads seamlessly with attention to detail and follow-up.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under critical time frames and work on multiple assignments and complex and sensitive information.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to apply good work habits to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the company/department.
- SAP experience is preferable.
