Position Summary:
The Renewable Gas Field Service Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting renewable gas systems and associated equipment across multiple facilities. This role requires a high degree of physical mobility and the ability to respond quickly and decisively to equipment malfunctions, safety risks, and hazardous conditions—including those caused by severe weather events. The technician must be prepared to travel between sites at short notice and maintain site safety and operational continuity during critical incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor renewable gas compression and decompression facilities, including rotating equipment, gas monitoring and metering systems, compressors, and gas delivery systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and malfunctions to determine root cause; perform repairs, maintenance, or replacement of components.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, including pumps and compressors.
- Maintain, modify, and repair instrumentation and control equipment (e.g., recorders, flowmeters, analyzers, and other monitoring tools).
- Serve as the lead on-site technician, coordinating operational and maintenance activities.
- Record and analyze operational data; provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on trends, availability, and production.
- Collect samples for quality testing and maintain accurate compliance records.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment at all facilities.
- Assist with process control improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Respond swiftly to urgent operational issues, including gas leaks, mechanical failures, or extreme weather-related disruptions, to ensure safety and system integrity.
- Other duties and project assignments as directed.
Qualifications:
· 4 years of experience with industrial equipment
· 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance
· Valid U.S. work authorization
· High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
· Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Skills:
· Strong understanding of mechanical systems and safety protocols
· Basic knowledge of PLC systems, Analog I/O, Digital I/O, RTD Probes
· Basic knowledge of working with Electrical Voltages of 24vDC, 120vAC, 480vAC
· Basic knowledge of troubleshooting 480v Motors, and VFD’s
· Ability to read Electrical Schematics and P&ID Drawings
· Ability to read and follow technical documentation and work instructions
· Experience with wastewater or gas processing systems (preferred)
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
· Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks
· Excellent verbal and written communication
· High degree of self-motivation and initiative
· Must demonstrate physical agility and endurance to navigate industrial sites quickly, including stairs, ladders, confined spaces, and uneven terrain
· Ability to maintain situational awareness and composure in hazardous or time-sensitive environments
Work Environment:
· Standing for extended periods
· Stair and ladder climbing
· Lifting up to 50 lbs
· Working with and around hazardous materials
· Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and severe weather events
· Use of required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, air masks, hearing protection)
· Participation in on-call rotation for rapid response to operational incidents
· Ability to work in high-stress or emergency environments, including immediate response to hazardous gas conditions or mechanical failures
· Must be capable of rapid deployment between sites, often under unpredictable or challenging field conditions
Schedule:
· Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
· On-call rotation for after-hours and weekend coverage
· Primary site locations: Enterprise, AL
· Occasional travel to additional facilities (20%)
