Overview
Completes assigned duties while consulting with the Anesthesia Director, Anesthesia Assistant Director, Anesthesiologist, and Operations Manager to maximize department efficiency and effectiveness. Evaluates department needs and implements changes under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, and anesthesia providers. Must maintain a clinical proficiency determined and evaluated by the Anesthesia Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
Working Conditions: The position will function in a binary role with responsibilities in the Office Setting and the Operative Suites. Potential exposure to hazardous materials; potential exposure to communicable diseases and/or blood/body fluids resulting from the breakdown and disinfection of anesthesia equipment. Exposure to anesthetic gases, radiation, lasers, and other hazardous materials.
The Pharmacy, Nutrition and Therapeutics Committee and Director of Pharmacy have approved access to medications and related supplies (IV fluids, needles, etc.), which may or may not
include access to a secure medication storage area, when such access is necessary to perform the other duties included in this job description.
Work Environment:
Areas of work: Anesthesia Offices all sites, Operating rooms (OR’s), Surgical Admission Unit (SAU/ Pre-op), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Gastroenterology Lab (GI), Outpatient Cath Area (OCA), and other ancillary units as delegated.
Physical Requirements:
Participates in creating a safety culture by always optimizing safety. Able to access entire facility; lift and transport patients, supplies and equipment. Involves exposure to blood/body fluids, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases. Always demonstrates professional behavior and courtesy.
Qualifications
Education/formal training/licensure/certification experience:
· Comparable on the job training and/or experience as anesthesia tech acceptable.
· Advanced computer skills with a strong aptitude for learning new software.
