Title: Hunting and Shooting Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (R3) Coordinator - Nebraska

Term: Term limited

Job Summary:

This position is a cooperative effort between the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC). The Hunting and Shooting Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (R3) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and collaborating with various partnership organizations to assess gaps in current hunting and shooting sports R3 programs and initiatives and implementing efforts to develop clear and measurable pathways for hunting and shooting sports recruitment, retention and reactivation in Nebraska. This is a one-year, grant-funded position supported through the final year of a cooperative agreement with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create ongoing communication and collaboration among partners to support hunter & recreational shooter recruitment
  • Coordinate the Nebraska R3 Taskforce and the annual summit
  • Support in-person and online education programs as needed
  • Support marketing and outreach efforts to address key R3 needs
  • Develop and maintain methods to evaluate state and partner R3 programming efforts
  • Work with research partners analyze Nebraska hunter data, develop usable reports and recommend program and outreach actions based on data
  • Work with stakeholders to provide a greater number of effective mentoring opportunities for new hunters & recreational shooters
  • Collaborate with existing hunting and shooting sports outreach staff in Nebraska
  • Assist with the implementation of the Nebraska R3 Plan
  • Develop tools to bring existing hunters and novices together to enhance mentoring
  • Assist with various programs and events such as:

-NWTF and other partner education/outreach programs

-Expos

-Outdoor Discovery Programs

-NWTF Convention

  • May be responsible for the observation and/or oversight of contractors working on specific project activities
  • Attend annual NWTF Convention, regional meetings and training opportunities, as necessary
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with data analysis, marketing, social media platforms including online program delivery
  • Experience in partnership development
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, self-motivated and able to motivate others
  • Experience hosting public meetings and speaking in front of large groups
  • Experience with coordinating and evaluating education programming
  • Ability to work irregular schedules including some weekends, evenings and overnight stays
  • Able to drive a state vehicle
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Experience with strategic planning, good communication skills and the ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups in planning efforts

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in human dimensions, education, fish and wildlife management, biology, marketing or natural resources management
  • Hunter Education Instructor certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Remote or Telecomm Status:

  • Position is required to report to assigned work location, may be permitted to work remotely on a limited basis.
