Overview
The Group Engineer is responsible for providing hands‑on engineering support to assigned sites while also leading and executing capital and continuous improvement projects. This role serves as a technical resource across multiple facilities, ensuring equipment standardization and reliability, operational excellence, and alignment with corporate engineering standards. The Group Engineer will split time between on‑site support, project leadership, system implementations, vendor coordination, and strategic engineering initiatives.
The Group Engineer will closely partner with the local team to support and lead projects for the site but also with other site group engineers, innovation specialists, and the R&D team to evaluate and implement new technologies, optimize processes, and determine standardized equipment.
This role requires travel up to 50% mainly in North America with some internantionally, supporting technology implementations, trials, vendor audits, and cross‑site process alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Site Support (Hands‑On Engineering)
- Provide technical troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for production equipment, utilities, and facility systems.Support site engineering teams with mechanical, electrical, controls, and process challenges.Lead reliability improvements through data analysis, corrective actions, and preventive maintenance enhancements.Train local engineers, technicians and operators on new equipment, technologies, and best practices.
Project Management
- Plan, manage, and execute capital projects from concept through commissioning and handover.Develop scopes of work, budgets, timelines, and risk assessments.Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to meet project objectives.Ensure all projects follow company safety standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering specifications.
Technical Leadership
- Lead cross‑site engineering initiatives in areas such as automation, process optimization, reliability, safety improvements, or new technology deployment.Standardize engineering practices, documentation, and equipment design across sites.Support CMMS system utilization, data accuracy, and maintenance strategy development.Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency, cost, and quality.
Travel & Multi‑Site Support
- Travel up to 50% to support project execution, site troubleshooting, system upgrades, audits, or emergency response.Act as the primary engineering liaison between corporate engineering and remote facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related engineering discipline.3–7 years of experience in manufacturing, automation engineering, or production engineering.Demonstrated hands‑on troubleshooting expertise in mechanical, electrical, and/or automation systems.Strong project management skills, including vendor management and budget oversight.Experience working in high‑mix, automated, or process‑driven environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD programs such as AutoCad, Fusion, Inventor, SolidworksExposure to lean manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.Experience supporting multiple locations or large‑scale capital projects.Ability to lead multi‑functional teams without direct authority.
