JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading software engineers in the design, development, testing, and support of Hansei’s technology solutions, primarily focused on the Sidekick platform and supporting data integrations. This is a team-level delivery and people leadership position. The Engineering Manager ensures engineering work is executed reliably, follows established processes, and meets quality and security expectations.

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership and People Management

• Manage and mentor power platform developers, Microsoft Fabric/Power BI engineers, ETL processes, CI/CD pipelines, SRE, and compliance and security within a regulated HIPAA environment.

• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering teams.

• Support onboarding of new engineers by ensuring clarity of role expectations and development standards.

Delivery and Execution

• Oversee day-to-day execution of engineering work for assigned initiatives, including power app modules and data pipeline enhancements.

• Ensure features, fixes, and enhancements are delivered according to sprint plans and release schedules.

• Coordinate with Product and Program Management to translate approved requirements into technical tasks.

• Manage multi-threaded engineering work (production fixes, current sprint work, and upcoming releases) within defined processes.

• Perform root cause analysis on build or system performance issues to prevent future occurrences.

• Communicate clearly and translate complex technical knowledge into business needs for non-technical stakeholders.

• Ensure all current processes are documented in a clear, accurate, and concise manner.

• Standardize processes across teams where appropriate to improve efficiencies and scale.

• Develop cost models for future development and investment in emerging technologies.

• Understand cost of current technology investments with the goal of staying within budget while evaluating areas to reduce costs.

• Apply knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology, principles, and processes.

Technical Oversight

• Ensure industry standards for engineering solutions are in place, including architectural patterns, coding standards, and security best practices.

• Review designs and implementations for maintainability, performance, stability, and reliability.

• Drive adoption of approved tools, frameworks, and automation within engineering and power app teams.

• Mitigate technical risks and escalate them appropriately to senior technology leadership.

Quality, Security and Compliance

• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with HIPAA, HITRUST, and internal security standards.

• Implement application-level monitoring, logging, and incident response procedures.

• Participate in audits, reviews, and remediation activities as required.

• Follow established change management and access control processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Product, PMO, IT, Client Delivery, and Operations to clarify requirements and delivery timelines.

• Support intake and prioritization processes by providing engineering estimates and capacity input, including time, effort, and cost.

• Coordinate with IT on provisioning requests, deployments, and production support workflows.

• Communicate engineering status, risks, and dependencies clearly to stakeholders.

• Own daily stand-ups between product and engineering.

• Remove barriers to achieving goals and deliverables in terms of team dynamics and cross-collaboration.

SKILL SET

Required Skills and Competencies

• Strong people leadership and coaching skills with the ability to develop and retain engineering talent.

• Solid understanding of modern software development practices and engineering standards.

• Ability to execute within defined constraints and escalate appropriately.

• Clear communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

• Extremely motivated and self-driven to achieve success.

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology, principles, and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering.

• 2+ years in an engineering leadership or managerial role.

• Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).

• 2+ years experience in Power Platform / Dynamics 365 development

Preferred

• Familiarity with HIPAA, HITRUST, and healthcare data compliance standards.
