What You'll Do
As a Technical Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering successful live events by coordinating staging and technical operations from setup through breakdown.
Event Production and Technical Operations
You will:
• Coordinate and execute event staging and technical setups.
• Support audio, video, lighting, scenic, and presentation systems.
• Review event orders, production schedules, and technical requirements.
• Organize equipment, labor, and production resources needed for events.
• Oversee load-in, setup, operation, and strike activities.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide real-time solutions during events.
• Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and documentation.
Client and Venue Support
You will:
• Serve as an on-site technical resource for clients and venue partners.
• Collaborate with venue staff, sales teams, producers, and technicians.
• Communicate clearly with clients to ensure expectations are understood and exceeded.
• Help deliver a positive, professional event experience.
Safety and Professionalism
You will:
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
• Follow company, venue, and industry safety standards.
• Represent Mills James with professionalism and exceptional service.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
• 2 to 3 years of experience in live event production, staging, hospitality AV, or technical operations.
Technical Skills
• Working knowledge of audiovisual, lighting, staging, and event production systems.
• Ability to read event diagrams, technical drawings, production schedules, and event orders.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and move event production equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical work for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in convention centers, hotel ballrooms, backstage areas, and other event environments.
Additional Requirements
• Flexible schedule availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate may also have:
• CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification or similar industry credentials.
• Experience operating:
o Digital audio consoles
o Lighting control systems
o Video switching systems
o Presentation software platforms
• Forklift, aerial lift, rigging, or related certifications.
• Experience working in hotel, convention center, or hospitality environments.
