SHIPPING MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting Relationship:
The Shipping Manager currently reports directly to the President.
Summary
Full Sail Media's Shipping Manager is responsible for leading all shipping, receiving, inventory staging, and logistics operations to ensure finished products are delivered accurately, on time, and in excellent condition. This position oversees the daily activities of the shipping department, coordinates with production and customer service teams, manages freight vendors, and continuously improves shipping processes to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The Shipping Manager serves as the final operational checkpoint before products leave our facility and is responsible for maintaining the high-quality standards our customers expect.

DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES
- Supervise all daily shipping and receiving operations.
- Schedule, prioritize, and coordinate outgoing shipments to meet customer deadlines.
- Ensure all finished products are packaged correctly to prevent damage during transportation.
- Verify shipping documentation, packing slips, bills of lading, and freight paperwork for accuracy.
- Coordinate with Production to ensure jobs are completed and shipped according to schedule.
- Manage relationships with UPS, FedEx, USPS, freight carriers, couriers, and local delivery vendors.
- Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Maintain inventory of shipping supplies and coordinate purchasing as necessary.
- Ensure proper receiving, inspection, and storage of incoming materials and vendor deliveries.
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged shipments, and carrier claims promptly.
- Develop and maintain department standard operating procedures.
- Monitor departmental productivity and establish measurable performance standards.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate shipping personnel while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Maintain an organized warehouse and shipping area that promotes efficiency and workplace safety.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Inventory personnel to improve inventory flow and material handling.
- Participate in daily production meetings and communicate shipping priorities across departments.
- Assist in implementing process improvements that increase throughput while maintaining quality.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and transportation requirements.
- Support company-wide initiatives related to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Contribute to additional company initiatives including process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and operational planning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- Five or more years of shipping, warehouse, or logistics experience.
- Minimum of three years supervising employees in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Commercial printing or graphic communications industry experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong leadership and team development abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with shipping software and carrier systems (UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, USPS, LTL carriers, etc.).
- Understanding of inventory control and warehouse management principles.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP/MIS systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze workflows and implement operational improvements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and movement throughout the workday.
