Direct Support Professional in Massillon, Ohio at Karing Hands Provider Services, LLC

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a caregiver, teacher, and mentor that works with individuals with intellectual, physical, or developmental disabilities. DSP should be able to effectively communicate with the individual as well as interpret verbal and nonverbal cues to best meet the needs of the individual.

DSPs support individuals where they live by:

Helping them live as independently as possible

Helping ensure they are healthy and safe

Helping with daily life activities like cooking, cleaning, dressing, bathing, shopping, transportation and community activities

DSPs support individuals by:

Taking small groups into the community for volunteer and leisure activities

Teaching independence and safety skills

Encouraging them to try new things, make more choices, and get involved in more activities and hobbies

DSPs support individuals in finding and keeping jobs by:

Helping them identify talents, interests, goals and abilities to discover long-term jobs

Providing one-on-one marketing and recruitment services to connect them with employers

Providing job coaching, on-site support and training at employment sites

As a DSP, You''ll need to provide:

Daily Living Support

Skill Building

Community Integration

Health and Safety

Emotional Support

Advocate rIghts and services for persons they support

We'll provide extra training for DSP's that you'll need before working with individuals.

In Addition, you'll need to meet these requirements:

18 years of age or older

Must have a valid Social Security Card and valid Government Photo ID

You must have at least One Year Full Time paid Work Experience in direct care

Have a minimum High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate

Be able to speak, read, write, and understand English at a sufficient level

Have a valid Driver's License, Auto Registration, and Auto Insurance

Be able to pass a drug screen

Have a background free of offenses that preclude employment

Working Hours: Part-Time/ Day Shift
