Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced Process Maintenance Technician with a strong mechanical background and solid electrical skills to support our high-volume food processing operations.
Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor, insures proper set up and operation of the relish function. This position plays a critical role in supporting daily manufacturing operations by ensuring equipment reliability, optimizing production processes, and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Before the shift begins, communicates with cutting department to insure the correct product and quantity for shift production.
- Coordinates with Blender Operator to insure proper set up and operation of the blenders, heat exchanger and that the correct formula is followed.
- Prepares, startups, operates, and shuts down production equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Observes production parameters, identifies deviations, and makes real-time adjustments to maintain product quality and throughput.
- Assists all Operators/Operator Mechanics (O/Ms) to insure optimum production and efficiency of the relish line. Assists Operators, O/Ms, and maintenance in the repair of all equipment on the relish line.
- Monitors to assure that all product adheres to food safety and quality critical limits. This employee’s absence will be covered by another employee trained to monitor food safety and quality.
- Monitors production run throughout the shift. Reports problems to Supervisor.
- Assists in training new personnel to perform assigned duties.
- Keeps work area clean and orderly.
- Follows safety rules and company policies.
Other duties
- When relish line is not in operation, performs duties of other jobs such as Syrup Maker and Machine Operator/Mechanic.
- Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
- Receives written instructions from packing schedule or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.
High school graduate or equivalent needed. 3+ years of hands-on mechanical work in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or a related field. Ability to read mechanical drawings, use precision measurement tools, and operate basic shop equipment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues independently. Additional trades training a plus. Industrial certifications such as maintenance technician credentials or mechanical trade certifications are preferred. Clear verbal and written communication for reporting, documentation, and teamwork.

Machines, Equipment, Tools Used
All of the relish line machines and equipment as well as assorted powered and non-powered hand tools.
Physical Demands
- Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerate degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady forces in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operators machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach, performs mechanical or skilled trade tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
Work Environment
Works inside, subject to some seasonal temperature variation and wetting from some job tasks. Some contact with oil, grease and yellow food coloring. Fumes from hot pepper. Ear plugs required due to irritating machine noise. Head cover and beard cover required. Safety glasses required when using power tools, hammer, chisels, punches, etc.
